25 Thought-provoking messages from the Bible.
An enlarged survey of how Jesus meets our needs is presented in this book. Specific areas of our needs are covered in the message, Our Need For Jesus. Other solutions are seen in Jesus Our Prophet. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ shouts out how He is our sufficiency even in death (I Cor. 15:1-57). When and how He built the church, its purpose and potential, are covered in six units that help identify why He built it, purchasing it with Hs own blood (Matt.16:18f; Acts 20:28). Seven more units identify how God sees us, how Jesus helps us, moving us from being lost to found, from being dead to be alive again (Luke 15:11-14;Eph.2:4-10; I Pet. 1:18-25). Seven more units help meet our needs in Dealing With The Devil, identifying the deceptive and dangerous tendency to delay, plus persuading us to be--and stay--ready for that great day when Christ comes to judge the living and the dead (Rom. 14:10-12;11 Cor.5:10;Phil. 2:5-11). All the foregoing thoughts can be easily traced through the Table of Contents!
It is interesting to note that James R. Fisher wrote: "There are. . .four universal needs common to all humans. They are the needs for a livelihood; maintaining health, getting along with other people, and getting along with oneself."1 While these are significant needs, Fisher does not mention the real need of properly relating with God, our Maker (note Zech. 12:1; Eccl. 12:131). This reminds one of the words by Frank A. Clark: "A baby is born with a need to be loved---and never outgrows it."2 Which then reminds us that "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16; cf. Rom.5:6-9). That Son came to us out of love and died for each one of us, truly meeting our real needs (II Cor.5:21; I Pet.2:24). How meaningfully could Jesus sing the song written by Randy Goodrun and made popular by Anne Murray, "You Needed Me!" Each one of us does truly need Jesus, His message (John 8:31f;11 John v.9), His manner of life (I Pet.2:21-24), and the mansions He is preparing for each one who will obey Him (John 14:1-6;Heb. 15:8f; Acts 4:12). May these 25 messages help you recognize and acknowledge that significant fact.
