Scholars within the churches of Christ are producing a complete book-by-book commentary on the entire Bible. Each volume in this historic work provides remarks on every verse of the text covered, and each chapter ends with an application section which offers suggestions for developing sermons and Bible classes.
The Scholarship...
Desiring to produce a work which will benefit Bible teachers and families alike, authors are taking advantage of both ancient and contemporary historical and archaeological findings to give insight into the Scriptures and provide practical applications.
The Need...
"In our history we have never done an extensive commentary on the Bible using various authors," Eddie Cloer, general editor, said. "I believe the need is real and the time is right for us to produce this work." Cloer, Professor of Bible, has taught at Harding University since 1976.
Edited by Faithful Bible Professors...
Joining Cloer in editorial roles are Don Shackelford and Duane Warden. Shackelford, Old Testament editor, is Professor Emeritus of Bible at Harding University, where he also served as Director of International Studies. Warden, New Testament editor, is Professor of Bible and Associate Dean of the College of Bible and Religion at Harding University.
We have many great scholars in our brotherhood whose knowledge is a wonderful asset to the Lord's church. I wish every preacher, every Bible teacher, and every Christian family would take advantage of this opportunity to own what promises to be one of our finest sets of commentaries. I am pleased that these brethren have undertaken this grand project.
